Optico

There’s hyperthermophiles like Methanopyrus kandleri that can survive extreme conditions around black smokers at the bottom of the oceans. They can still grow at temperatures of 120 °C. Kirins could have their own set of bacteria but they generally wouldn’t transfer between species due to extreme differences in environments.

Sort of like an inside-out brazen bull, eh? Interesting. Might be worth the severe burns if it’s with Autumn Blaze.
@warpd
JSTOR says, “when active, bats can maintain body temperatures of 40 °C (104 °F) or higher.” And you’re right, it doesn’t stop the poor cuties from getting all sorts of diseases and fungal infections.
But with Kirin, we’re perhaps talking about temperatures that would cause proteins to denature, and ordinary body lipids to virtually saponify or liquefy. I’m thinking at least ~80 °C (176 °F).

Then they’re CARRIERS! You get in contact with any Kirin bodily liquid, and you’ll catch all of the germs they were holding onto but not being affected by!

Bats have a high temperature because flying creates a lot of heat, they still carry diseases. So a Kirin might be more like reservoir that don’t suffer from the downsides.
