Honestly my head head cannon is Tirek doesn’t actually care about (his) sexuality and he’s more of a ‘power itself gets me high guy’ (megalomaniac) so he uses any type of manipulation tactic to gain it.
In the show he took advantage of Discord’s feeling of loneliness and resentment for how the ponies treated him despite being ‘redeemed’
