Seriously! IDW has the rights for both Transformers and Godzilla. To make a crossover comic between the two would cause sales to rocket sky high. Toho, give IDW a chance to do this. It worked with King Kong vs. Godzilla. Hell, I’d be happy if they did a Godzilla/MLP crossover while they’re at it. Think about it. A crossover between a world-wide phenomenon and one of the most beloved kaiju franchise.

Not true. I’m working on a fanfiction which blends the two franchises’ tones together in a way that has them working off each other. Basically, the plot goes like this. Set a few months after Twilight’s coronation, Fluttershy is sucked into an unstable portal which transforms her into a human and spits her out into “Kaiju Earth” (basically Earth but with Kaiju in it). There she befriends a human named Kenji and tries to find a way back home. After a while, Twilight, the rest of the Mane Six, Spike and Shining Armor set off to rescue her, taking on human forms of their own only to discover this world is full of giant beasts called Kaiju which can outright strip cities clean of life and leave them in ruins. To make matters worse, some of the more malevolent Kaiju have become attracted to the presence of the ponies-turned-humans. Basically, it has all the elements of MLP:FIM and Godzilla. For MLP:FIM, it’s the humor, the “D’awww”-factor and great characters. For Godzilla, it’s the epic scope, the theme of humanity being second-rate compared to giant monsters and, of course, giant monsters beating five shades of the brown stuff out of each other. It also has a little bit of world building for Godzilla.
Bah, if it’s gonna be anything else but a comic book it should just be live action kaiju goodness.
It’s just that I’d like to see Godzilla in animation looking like this
As opposed to this.
(Yes I count Zilla Junior as Godzilla)
Or worse, THIS
So what’s the problem with having a guy in a Godzilla costume fighting Pony puppets on strings? How would that not look good? If it was done by people who know what they’re doing it would look freakin’ awesome to watch!
I’m sorry, but I don’t see the ponies as props as much as I find the practical effects of the Godzilla films appealing to the eyes.
You’re joking right? Are you saying that it has to be a comic book or nothing at all? That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard~~_~~
Well, if you’re going to complain about a comic book crossover why bother with a crossover altogether?
What’s wrong with just having a guy in a Godzilla costume fighting Pony models on strings? I’d much rather see that!
Okay, so maybe not a crossover but rather something like Infestation which has them dealing with a different threat to each of their worlds. With MLP we have them dealing with the threat in their own light-hearted way while we have Godzilla doing it in the darker tone of the series.
No c’mon, stop saying this needs to be taken seriously, not everything needs to be serious. If it were like Super Sentai, Mazinger or Transformers it would be a different story, but Godzilla VS. My Little Pony?! To not just make that a straight up satire of the Godzilla franchise would be a sadistically cruel injustice to humanity! This shit needs to be the kind of thing you’d find in the pages of Mad Magazine! Unsupervised, unadulterated blissful fun!
You don’t know that unless you try it. If Avatar (the show) can mix humor with dark material but still be enjoyable then so can a Godzilla/MLP crossover. Besides, the MLP comics have some dark material (Chrysalis enslaving an entire race of kitten people and possibly killing one in front of the Cutie Mark Crusaders) so I’m pretty sure it would work out either way.
Because it doesn’t matter how much drama and serious writing you put into it, it would STILL be about the same kind of crossover as Godzilla VS Charles Barkley! That’s why! And frankly I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Actually having a dark tone while interjecting a sense of humor is not impossible. Avatar the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra managed to do it in a very balanced fashion. I don’t see why a crossover between MLP and Godzilla with a tone like Avatar: TLAB and LOK wouldn’t work in its favor.
We’re talking about the idea of a Godzilla/My Little Pony Crossover, why the hell would that be dark let alone serious?! It would be satirical by nature no matter how much drama you put into it so even bringing up the dark serious tone of the actual Godzilla films is a mute point!
… Dude, did you even see the first Godzilla film from 1954? That wasn’t hilarious it was dark and a cautionary tale. Hell, Godzilla is supposed to be dark. He’s supposed to be the allegorical representation of the nuclear bomb.
No screw that, anything with Godzilla needs to be live action, it’ll be more hilarious and entertaining that way.
It can be animated, did you ever think of that? Besides, I was talking about a COMIC crossover.
Yes.
“Hay everyone, we are having a big crossover of G.I. Joe, Transformers, Ghostbusters, and Star Trek.”
Oh, sound sweet.
(after look into it)
The hell is this? why should I care about this CVO people, and why is noting but stuff from it interacting with the others?
You mean Infestation?
