Hi! This is my OC, who is loosely based on myself, who is a high functioning autistic male. I felt that this specification was important as that while, yes, you shouldn’t classify people with autism, the effects of autism range widely from person to person. Some people are able to function normally to the point that it’s not apparently noticeable unless you’re paying attention. If I just write “Winter is autistic,” that’s far too broad, and everyone has their own idea of what an autistic person is. When I hear the word by itself, I think of the stereotypical depictions in Lifetime movies. Meanwhile, with the specification of “high functioning” I can infer that they are well-adjusted despite their disability.
As someone who is autistic, it is far more offensive to claim things like “autism isn’t a disability” when, in fact, it is, and it is especially ignorant of reality to assume that some people aren’t more disadvantaged than others. All you can really do is improve.

Notoriously Divine Tagger - Consistently uploads images above and beyond the minimum tag requirements. And/or additionally, bringing over the original description from the source if the image has one. Does NOT apply to the uploader adding several to a dozen tags after originally uploading with minimum to bare tagging.

please dont use the term “high-functioning” and “low-functioning” when describing autistic characters or people. autism should not be categorized by how it inconveniences other people
