Description

Went on a late fall hike up to the highest peak between Mt Hood and the desert. From the summit of Lookout Mountain, around 11 volcanoes can be seen. Flutterbat came along for the ride, and took the spotlight in my photo.
The trail up was partially snow covered (much of it melted away, though), icy, and cold. It warmed up by mid day, but by sunset it was freezing again. Hiked back down just after sunset, in near darkness. Only the faint illumination of the pink clouds above provided just enough light to see on the way down. Light bouncing on the clouds, and then on the snow on the ground lit the way back. In reality, the snow covered ground made it easier to see. Never needed to get out the lights.
I captured a timelapse of the sunset here, and this is one of the images towards the end of the sequence. It was especially windy toward the end, so I was forced to bring up the ISO and bring down the aperture a lot in order to stabilize the image to reduce blurring from wind movement on the camera. The wind caused the timelapse to be a little jittery, but it should be alright—or good enough for use in the film, at least. The sunset was very beautiful!
