They sometimes do, and we are always happy to remove the badge when we see that happen. Of course, some ask to keep it. Maybe, for some, it’s a reminder to not troll, or a trophy of the old times.

Actually, it’s to warn other users that the person is a known troublemaker who keeps getting other people banned, and they should avoid getting into fights with them. The ducks themselves tend to have no shame and, as the badge is usually our final attempt to find a way for the person to be on the site - after talking, warnings, and bans have failed, I don’t believe anyone on staff thinks giving them the badge will change their behavior in any way. But, it does seem to help innocent bystanders not get caught up in the drama ducks sometimes create.

Never liked the duck badges it’s basically a way for admins to shame someone they don’t like, just sad
