The tag dawnstorm has been repurposed from its original definition so that it can be used for Misty Brightdawn + Zipp Storm ships.

In the future, please confine discussions about tags to the appropriate thread in our forums - in this case the Shipping Tags General thread, and please don’t tagwar over ship names on fan art.

Additionally, this really isn’t the proper place to speculate about the gender of Big Mac or other ponies - please use the forums or an appropriate image for those discussions, ok?

Hehe yeah alooot of fandom stuff lol. Also it wasnt in a joking thread, his vas gone on record to say he plays mac as bi poly and genderqueer himself, the og thread itself wasnt really jokey.
Also yeah sunset bi is pretty nice. Its admittedly funny that the 3 characters we get word of god confirmation for are:
a main character, a main side character, and a villian (sunset, big mac, and sombra respectively)

And alright, I’m just guessing, without seeing those tweets, that they were just intended as jokes (especially Faust’s), riffing on the old fandom meme of “Big Mac gets all the mares/Big Mac gets everypony” from back in the very early days when he was really the only established, mature (so that excludes Spike) male character. But I suppose the fact that it came from official sources means it can be debated as to whether it’s canon or not, haha

Reminds me of how, back when I was an admin on the FiM Wiki, in order to sidestep debates about “canon” or “non-canon”, we just focused on official material vs. fan labor, where official material was anything made or said by Hasbro, or made or said by a party licensed by them (basically), while fan labor was anything else. And all official information was gathered and placed on the relevant pages, even if it contradicted something else on the page. The contradictions were not explained away, but just reported on, since explaining them would require speculation, or adopting an in-universe writing style (as in, treating the work of fiction like it’s a real world rather than a work of fiction created in this real world).

It was nice to avoid discussions of “canon”, but it also occasionally had its drawbacks - you would not believe how many fans had conniptions over us changing “Lyra” to “Heartstrings” back when that was the only official name (the first toy of that pony). Luckily, of course, Hasbro ended up throwing us a bone and making the official name “Lyra Heartstrings”.

But anyway, I think I’m rambling now - I feel like an old man, reminiscing about the “good ‘ol days”, so I better stop that, haha

Finally, I know this means absolutely nothing, but FWIW, of all the characters that were given sexualities by official cast/crew members on Twitter, the only one that made me go “Yeah, I can see that” was when Katrina Hadley (I believe) stated that Sunset Shimmer is bi.

I think they’re saying that “dawnstorm” was first used on a Luster Dawn x Storm Sentry (an OC) pic, so I suppose it needs to be decided whether to change the tag for the g5 ship, or change that tag to something else. Like, does that canon x oc ship take priority since it used the tag first, or should it be given to the pairing that has more potential for images? Just personally I come down on the side of the latter, as I changed the one image of G4’s Misty Fly tagged “mistybetes” to “misty flyabetes” so that this Misty could take the former tag, which, considering the number of images she’s had tagged as cute in less than a year, was definitely the right move.

Also, I want to make sure I’m understanding the terminology correctly - is Zipp “visibly queer” because of her more masculine manestyle and her huskier, deeper voice? Or is there something else I’m not considering? I mean, I provisionally agree, but I just want to make sure I’m thinking about this correctly.

Finally, genuinely did not know that Big Mac was bi and poly.

Well I mean it’s perfectly fine to hc her as straight, But I don’t agree on that 2nd part, people are fine with it, she’s visibly queer, and while people will obv prefer her be visibly bi (which in itself can be done any ways), it’s fine overall, like big macs canon bi and poly but people ain’t rioting for him not kissing a boy bc he’s kinda visibly queer. And anyway that argument is mainly for bi women being paired Canon with generic men love interests, which hitch is not. Stormblazer is a very queer straight ship hehe.

Yeah, while bi/pan headcanons doesn’t bother me as much as the lesbian one, I really don’t think I would like to see that on the actual show, Because then a lot of people would demmand and beg for Zipp to have a female love interest, like Misty in this case, and if she doesn’t or ends up with a male character like Hitch, this people would start complaning saying stuff like “omg Zipp is literally queer why would she date men” and that kind of nonsense.

As I stated, I’m not against representation, heck, even if they make Pipp lesbian I wouldn’t be mad, I just got a problem with Zipp hc’s. What I will say next will probably make many people angry, but honestly, I kinda want Zipp to be straight, Regardless of who I ship her with, I just want people to stop stereotyping the character and the lgbt comunnity.
