Regular people get along just fine… usually. We, as human beings, as individuals, have a lot more liberties than countries we live in. Don’t like someone? Avoid this person. Blacklist them. No need to quarrel, you’ve got nothing to share. There are over 8 billion people on our planet and so much space for everyone, you’ll find your own way to go.

As for the countries… They work differently, and though they are sometimes portrayed as one entity with its own personality (Marrusia and Ukrainka on this poster, for instance), they work as a SYSTEM, and systems are rarely about just one person, so they cannot be treated or perceived as one.
They can’t just blacklist another country, pretend it doesn’t exist and go mind their own business. Not in the modern world, not anymore. Everything is connected. The countries that provide raw materials, the countries that manufacture, the countries that distribute… Just like giant rivaling corporations that have to work together, or the whole thing might come down.
Almost every country needs something from another country, it’s just in most cases it’s a lot cheaper to buy what you want instead of taking it by force. And it’s not like we can just take the whole country and move it to another dimension with miles of pure and untouched new territory to conquer. So yeah… Very dark stuff happens.
Politics is a mess…

Man, it’s sad that ponified version of two countries get along better than the actual leaders of them.

I am sure that if you find a Russian-speaking person, you will be able to practice your knowledge of the Russian language with him. I would love to talk to you by voice, but one thing is a pity - I know English very poorly, and the language barrier really prevents me from communicating with Europeans and Americans. I have to use a translator.
