Description
Page 4 - The Titular DragonNon-player character dialogue can be tricky. The only times players will talk to NPCs is when said NPCs have something the players want - items, information, alliances, etc. You shouldn’t have NPCs make “small talk” with the players, because they’ll duck out as soon as they realize there’s nothing to gain. PC time is highly valuable!
Transcript:
DM: You also have an arcane familiar, Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight Sparkle: Yep! A dragonling. I call him Spike.
DM: I’ve taken some liberties with his character, if you don’t mind. “Spike” works as your research assistant in Canterlot.
Twilight Sparkle: Ooh, that’s nice. Does he talk at all?
DM: Er, yes. As you enter the library you call your home, he says:
Spike: Hey, Twilight! Uh… Do you need a book or anything?
Twilight Sparkle: Uh, no. Not right now, I don’t think…
Applejack: Okay! Good roleplaying. Can we start the PLOT now?
Rarity: Such rude language!
