Yeah, you have a good point there. Though it should also be noted that the plant-based Pillar of Equestria, Mistmane, was a unicorn rather than an Earth pony.
Also, Pinkie Pie doesn’t seem to have any plant-based abilities of her own, and neither does Rockhoof.

Hmmmm….
I am guessing that lore was scrapped? Or maybe it was replaced? Because now Earth pony magic seems to allow plants to grow rather than increase strength.

In other words, physics don’t apply in the world of FiM, and I should just not question it.
Then again, Pinkie Pie has already shown that physics don’t apply to ponies on multiple occasions.

How in the world is Apple Bloom that strong??? I can barely lift 60 pounds myself, and that looks closer to 120 pounds (based on the number of weights on the end). Even further, she is lifting that with one arm!
