I think she was in much darker place, that’s why we couldn’t see her in her actual color.

My point still stands, though: the reason for her different color could be that she is happier than she was before, and her coat got brighter as a result.
And frankly I like her new look, though I admit the color edit looks nice as well.

Man, I thought her coat in A New Generation was a lot darker. My memory sucks (last time I watched ANG was a few weeks ago)! Maybe her coat became brighter in Tell Your Tale for practical reasons, ‘cause I don’t think her coat color in ANG would look good in TYT’s color palette and animation style.

Makes sense. When a pony is happier they tend to be brighter. The fact that Pinkie is bright pink while her family are shades of grey is probably the best example of this that I can think of from G4. The Changelings might be another example of this, as well.
