Also, forgot to say, no I seriously doubt this was meant to be foreshadowing (unless they finally canonize Rarijack next season coughcough… mostly j/k), Rarity is just a notorious romantic and it made for a great visual gag here.

Interest in romance ≠ interest/aspirations towards procreating, necessarily. And definitely not for Rarity, at least in this point in time, considering how she reacted to the very suggestion of foalsitting the Cake twins in “Baby Cakes”.

Although, I suppose Fluttershy’s eagerness to prove to herself that she’s good mother material in “The Stare Master” might count. She has yet to show any longing for romantic companionship though (Rarity is the only mane 6 pony who has).

Despite her bad experience at the Gala, Rarity has not given up on her dream of getting married someday. She’s pretty much the only character in the mane 6 who has shown any aspirations whatsoever towards procreation.

I don’t have a problem with her marrying someone. She’s a self-sufficient mare. Her wanting to get married isn’t something bad that she should get over with, just another one of her goals.

So far she has shown the most interest in wanting to have some form of a relationship and has shown to use her powers of beauty to wooing gentlecolts. She’ll be the last one to get married or will always be a bridesmaid, never a bride.
