draw whichever way you like. I’m just enjoying talking about comparative anatomy. it is neat how that picture sort of switches between different kinds of foot along the way before settling on horse, even if pig is a bit of an evolutionary deviation.
I’m going by what I think looks less visually off-putting as far as the hand to hoof thing goes.

I’ll probably give the single finger/single toe idea a try in one of the next tf images I do.
well, deer are two toed ungulates, so yes our middle and ring finger correspond to their hoof. horses being one toed ungulates have lost the ring finger.
I may have mis-phrased that. What I meant to convey was that transformation from plantigrade to ungulate wouldn’t necessarily follow one certain transitional path, as there’s no natural transition between the two, apart from looking at cross-species hooves/feet/paws and sort of “connecting the dots” or tracking back evolutionary development of the hooves, which seems to mostly track back to a three-toed state, earlier on in this evolutionary chain four toes seemed to be the in-thing. from there-on it’s a lot of mucking about with ways to go from this to a plantigrade’s feet.
“and from how her right hand is in a fist here” that’s simply the way the hand is positioned, there’s no implications of a “clenched fist becoming a hoof”, I too always thought that was a weird thing.
But, as I said, The thumb, pinkie-finger and index finger becoming vestigial, with the middle- and ring-finger fusing together could work as well (comparable to how a deer’s hooves work, really)
Edited
it’s not a problem. you can draw it either way. my two cents are freely given. I only want to make sure you’re aware.
I’m getting the “clenched fist” thing from unrelated transformation fanfics, and from how her right hand is in a fist here.
and I’m surprised “visually appealing” is much of a concern to you… but frankly a hoof that looks like got shoved into a wood chipper is creepier to me than a really big toe. which I like, because boy is it creepy how it just melds together.
…it does bug me that you say comparative anatomy could go against cross species pseudo evolutionary transition, but only because those are the same things in my mind. transformation doesn’t have to take comparative anatomy into account though, not any more than it does evolutionary history.
I’m not sure where you’re getting the ‘clenched fist morphing into a hoof’ part from. I’m just taking some creative liberties. When you look at comparative anatomy between human and equine, there’s no necessity for a single digit to grow while the rest retract and become vestigial, it’s all up for debate as there’s no way to tell if it would follow some kind of cross-species pseudo evolutionary transition.
Plus, when choosing between what looks more visually appealing vs what you say in this case is correct, I’d go for the first. I don’t think one single digit growing while the rest sort of shrink in would call for many visually pleasing iterations, at least, not in my case. I’d have to consider studying that variation, and don’t really find that a priority at this moment. Thanks for your two cents, though.
Edit: I think I’d rather go for in-betweens that resemble the feet/hooves of other ungulates, like a deer, sheep or cow.

and then my fingers merged together into a hoof! wait no, that’s a weird cube shape. now they’re fishbowls? I think I see fish swimming in them! and now I have 12 fingers on each hand? wait are those eyeballs? HELP oh okay, now it’s a hoof. whew, that made total and complete sense.
Transformations, meanwhile, pretty much don’t care since they’re rearranging everything anyway.
I have a strange everything… XD
I can concur on that note though, the clenched fist analogy never clicked for me. Digits fused together is at least about halfway anatomical though, as it gets the rough placement of bones and the walking on the tips of the digit. Seems a good balance to me, though the pure anatomical transition can also be interesting to see. ^^
you have a strange definition of fun………
but yeah I don’t care if they do, just want to make sure they know. always makes me groan when someone is like “why are my new hands like clenched fists?” in their fanfic.
TF being an inherently unnatural thing, really is up to the artist’s preference and discretion, since there honestly is no realistic way to portray something that’s literally impossible. Personally though, I’m a big fan of the fusing digits, just since it seems like it’d be more fun to experience. :D
Looks like he is trying to stay human and failing.
Soon you’ll be able to commission him for that, yes.
You might be able to request/commission art of yourself or another person transforming into your favorite pony :D
I forget if most of sevenpaperplates’s stuff is commission, request, or spur of the moment ideas.
Yeah that’s my nightmare.
