Ebony Star (the leader) also mentioned a group that never returned during the drinking party. It could be the same group, that never returned because Spike killed them.

The bandits who tried to rob Spike all wore purple bandanas and green-brown armors. The bandits in the hideout are all wearing purples bandanas and green-brown armors. It’s pretty reasonable to assume these are the same people.
Please don’t twist my words around.

First of all, this is a story without a standard species, outfits are the WORST identifier. What outfit do bandit dragons wear? Or breezie bandits? Or cat bandits?
Secondly, the whole basis of the story is that the government is evil for judging people based on their species. You’re trying to argue Spike is a good guy for judging people based on their outfits.

I reread the whole comic from the beginning before commenting. Its all garbage.
The old Equestrian government has collapsed and the districts are locked down. In other words information is locked down. In fact its SO locked down that its safer and easier to use a fake ID instead of sneaking past the border. But Spike/we are supposed to believe that these are “bandits” on the word of some farmers?
And then Spike starts poisoning food to stop the “bandits”. Gee, what could POSSIBLY happen if a dragon went around poisoning pony food supplies in a world where ponies are actively at war against dragons?

Your army has been reduced to six people, your hideout with all your equipment is burning down, the locals hate you and have no reason to help you or your cause and you are currently held a gunpoint by said locals plus an angry dragon mercenary. So yes lady, your rebellion is over!
Even if you somehow manages to convince them of your good intentions, I seriously doubt that they would follow the mare who turned a blind eye on her troops acting like petty thugs and murderers. Best to surrender, apologizes and try to explain that you never wanted all this to happen. Might be your only chance to save your live and the lives of your remaining followers.
