Discord: Why so somber, Sombra? I don’t know about you, but I think we look FABULOUS!
| Hey y’all! Taking a short break from the 100 Themes project to pump out a couple smaller things that I’ve been wanting to work on. This time is more of my ShadOVerse/NextGen/Blah nonsense, featuring older/future Discord and Sombra, husbands/prince consorts to Celestia and Luna respectively. |
| Okay, explanation time, starting with Discord, let’s do this… |
| So making an eternal Spirit of Chaos look a bit older was a fun job. |
| Really the only difference is I grew out his mane and facial hair a bit. I like it personally. Discord can make himself look however he wants, and just like people in the real world, his style can change a bit from time to time. I like to image he thinks it makes him look more “mature”… |

| As you can see, personality wise, he hasn’t changed at all. XD |
| Next we’ve got Sombra. He wasn’t killed by the explosion at the end of The Crystal Empire, and this point in his life here, is reformed. I can’t go into too much detail about his reformation right now, for two reasons. One, I don’t HAVE the entire thing planned out, and two, I don’t want to just give what I do have away, just in case I want to actually do some kind of story with it later. Just stayed tuned on that. |
| But I WILL tell you about that crystal horn you see here. |
| As we saw, Sombra got his horn broken off when he was defeated. In the ShadOVerse, unicorn horns do NOT grow back. And like a human with an amputated limb, this causes some problems. The most obvious problem is, you can’t cast spells anymore. No levitation, no nothing. But unicorns don’t just stop being magical, and without a horn to channel the magic correctly, the result is magic misfires and migraines. |
| This is obviously horribly unpleasant and disruptive of a unicorn’s life. And just like in our world, some brilliant minds have worked towards helping ponies with this injury. So with that idea in mind, I came up with the idea for prosthetic horns and a doctor character that helps pioneer their development. And you’ll get to meet her in the future. <3 |
| Personality wise, Sombra’s mellowed out a LOT. Being defeated, arrested, stripped of all magic control, and suffering chronic migraine pain can be rather humbling. Again, I can’t go into all the details, but with Luna’s help, he goes through a lot of healing and growth. Nowadays he leads a rather quiet, intentionally isolated life. He’s gone practically nocturnal, sleeping during the day, and prowling around the castle and it’s libraries at night. Besides spending more time with his wife this way, it lets him have free reign of the grounds with out so many uncomfortable stares. |
| Lastly, about the regalia I gave them, I didn’t want to make it too elaborate. Neither of them really do a ton of actual ruling for the most part. Discord has no real interest and Sombra dislikes the public eye, and both would rather just be left to their own devices. So I went for something simple and classy just to show their royal ties. Though me and one of my close friends were joking that it looks like Celestia and Luna basically tagged them with their colors as if calling “dibs” on them. XDD |
