Thats the problem Fizzle. The problem with good people(ponies) is that they do not leave their own behind.  
Once and when you understand that, The guilt of past actions and realisation of how much you mean to someone will hurt you more than most other things could ever do.

I kinda figured but also glad Thistle quickly changed her mind about giving up on Tempest after she said that Tempest is “running away again” and also said “goodbye then, Commander Tempest Shadow” which is why Thistle came back to her after she catches up and witness Tempest regain control and admit her mistake when she found and look at Lullaby’s stuff Fizzlepop doll and finally kicked that Thunderstone orb entity out of her head permanently.
 
And I’m also guessing before that Thistle might have told her brother Fireweed to go to the cabin and keep his future niece Lullaby company and safe til she and Tempest return to patch things up and as soon as Tempest and Thistle reach the cabin, Fireweed comes out with a worried expression that Lullaby is nowhere to be seen or found and Tempest and Thistle made a realization that Rusty is behind her disappearance.
 
And possibly at the same time Tempest, Thistle, and, Fireweed smell fire and see smoke from the forest figuring that Lullaby is in trouble and the trio must get to her and save Lullaby from Rusty as well as the white timberwolf away from her and fast.
