Description
A tribute to some old acquaintances of mine, whose company I greatly enjoyed. It depicts a pivotal moment in my imaginings of a battle they once fought against the Makuta Teridax, from which I was lamentably absent.
I made this and shared it with them almost six months ago, but I’d hoped to correct the picture’s historical inaccuracies before sharing it publicly. Circumstances, however, conspired to preclude any opportunity to discuss revisions, so time passed and it slipped from my mind, until now. Voilà.
On a distantly related note, the following can be regarded as both a memoir and a map. I have faith that at least one of you will understand.
Seeds were sown inside an embryo.
Tilling season predates eternity.
Away the dreamwalker flew, burning and freezing the fences.
Remember yet, beloved twelfth chime? Think!
Divorced parents may be remarried.
Unrequited feelings can flourish, if the guilty visage atones.
Streaks of magenta remain mismatched in a cracked mirror.
The light flickers across a rock face.

While she’s largely incapacitated here, Princess Twilight is by no means ineffectual. I chose to present this particular juncture not only for the sake of dramatic spectacle, but also because it involves every participant in the fight.
Immediately prior—to this snapshot as well as the arrival of the other three—Princesses Twilight and Sunset had been grappling with Teridax in midair when Twilight managed to vaporize most of his right shoulder, severing a wing and grounding him. My view is that she’s the only one of the bunch powerful enough to pierce his armor conventionally. Furthermore, Teridax struck a direct blow to her head as he began to tumble out of the sky—the fact that she retained consciousness is a monumental feat of will.
Although this action is implied in the picture, I acknowledge that without clear context, it’s understandable to perceive Twilight as less capable than her uninjured allies. For the record, I had misgivings about this piece for that very reason. Rest assured that it isn’t the case.
