They’re about as evil as any “punch in to work” style henchman is, I suppose. They follow the orders of a supervillain, but who’s to say what they’re like off-the-clock :D

I imagine they’re about as “real” as any magically constructed character. So, pretty much on par with the Pinkie Clones and the Mean Six. Mane-iac and her goons had free choice (as we saw when she was able to go off-script to account for the “new” Power Ponies) and had emotion and self-preservation (they showed genuine fear when things went to hell) so I’d say it’s a check in the box for Id, Ego, and Superego. I imagine all that it would take to bring them into the real world as genuine, real ponies out of them would be one errant spell or poorly-timed Twilight panic attack :D

A better question is: are they even real? Remember those henchponies and Mane-iac are just in the magical comic book world. I wonder if there’s a way for them to exist in the real Equestria.

Who knows? Mane-iac has never been redeemed, these ponies are still antagonists despite only appearing in one episode, though what happened to them still remains unknown, although they have received very few artwork, like with the majority of other ponies who have been considered underrated as of today by many fans.
