After looking at it for a bit, I think I got an idea what makes it too uncanny for me. The wide space of the eyes going around the head gives the impression of more pony like, while the human like nose and lips gives that weird feeling.
 
If I had to guess how to tweak it to be better I’d say either:  
A- go more pony by stretching out the muzzle just a bit. Maybe even go more cartoonish.  
B- go more human by shrinking the eyes and bringing them and the freckles a little more inward.
 
I have no clue how to even use 3d modeling programs so I’m impressed by the animation in general. Love the work.

Hey, it’s no problem! To be honest, this is actually a goal of mine when I finally start tackling on 3D modeling in Blender. Just…man, I forgot so much about it, I have to take another crash course on it again. (LAWL) Anything to experience the joy of playing with physics.

The face looks like the Na’vi from Avatar, but with larger eyes, great animation and physics, the attention to detail is bar none. Just a little Uncanny-Valley for me.

Huh…I don’t have any issues with the face.  
I usually find cg eyes to be off somehow,but this doesn’t bother me at all.

That looked very good from the thumbnail … then I clicked and saw the face.
 
Looking at the rest of your work it seem to be your intended artstyle so I guess I will just hide your tag but damn … such a shame, everything else (animation, texturing, lighting, physics) was perfect on this one :-/

Are you familiar with the concept of “Uncanny Valley”? Once something gets too humany it gets creepy, it actually will trigger a fight or flight response in some… regardless of how good the art is, and this is damn good to be honest! (and such clean animation, wow!)

Snout, Muzzle, whatever, I hear you. I’d super appreciate any more specific notes you have, if you’ve got time, like is it particularly bad with AJ to you? is it more to do with the chin or the nose/muzzle? I know the design I’m going for is particularly vulnerable to uncanny valley issues

Horses don’t have snouts, they have a muzzle.

Good models but that the faces on your models are very uncanny. Especially the snout, it looks almost human.

Damn, just imagine the bounce if she didn’t have that sports bra to keep them in check.

… Her face is well in the uncanny valley. It doesn’t look right.

Her apples sure are bouncy,aren’t they?
