Well then...

Yeah the point is still there. Both were popular in the 90’s regardless of specifically when it happened and I’m living proof of that from seeing it. I grew up seeing these trends, but most definitely boomboxes in the early 90’s during the age of hip hop. Yoyos were a big trend when I was in school where kids would play with them during class and on the school grounds. Skateboarding also became popular in my area where lots of kids wore hats backwards and short sleeve shirts over long sleeve shirts to look “kool” and “rad”. House rock (or dad rock) was big as well.

Boombox or yoyo? Yeah.
Skateboard? Hmmm… depends. Skating didn’t get huge in the 90s until ’95 onward, before surging really high in the 2000s thanks to Tony Hawk.

TBH the skirt is a misrepresentation of the fashion style. Most grunge chicks in the 90s actually wore bell-bottomed jeans, which Flutters has here but rolled up. The low-cut babydoll white shirt and hoop earrings are also on point. Furthermore, her shoes look like Vans - a possible reference to skateboarding (Vans makes skate shoes)
