Friendship, what’s that?  
Is it something that can be found under a ten gallon hat?  
Will I find it in the west?  
Can I find it in the east?  
Will I discover this friendship lying within creatures unlike me?  
Will I find it in the sky, or maybe the deepest sea?  
If I go looking for it, will friendship find me?  
Is it a quest of a moment?  
Is it a quest throughout my life?  
Will I learn about friendship on this journey, this ride?  
I’m at the starting line with a choice to go, or remain.  
Will I have any regrets?  
Will I feel any pain?  
My books again do fail me, no answers locked inside.  
My teacher is most cryptic.  
Let my conscience be my guide?  
I stand, I think, and ponder.  
Two choices ’fore me are set.  
One to take a risk, the other a safe bet.
