95-99% of fan-made or indy animattion pretend to be heartfelt and cute. But I prefer nuclear explosion in “Sonic Rainboom”. And that’s why we read fan-fics they can suggest something that official sources can not or when they try to do that it always looks like attempt to play “Hamlet” in elementary school theater.

It’s a joke. The idea is that Past Sins being the only fic you consider English-language Literature must be as a result of some past trauma, because it’s widely considered mediocre at best and there are much, much better stories out there. Such as anything by Georg, or perhaps “The Mare Who Once Lived On the Moon” by MrNumbers. To each their own, though.

1. “If you’re so smart where is your money?” “Past Sins” is well-know fic. “The Mare Who Once Lived On the Moon” Well this is the 1st time I see that tittle. OK let’s go check out… 2500 Likes. Even lets say “The Enchanted Library” performs better but I don’t consider it as a professional work. Why not to remember at least “Hard Reset” which is excellent and has 7500 likes? The only problem it’s very small because it’s plot predefines fragmentary style. Or even “Background Pony” with 6.4k likes but reading it was a tough expirience for me.
    
   BTW I didn’t find any fic with more than 500 likes with Hysterical Horse.
    
2. Why “Past Sins” works? Because of it’s surrealistic mix of childish and adult and because it’s perfect where it must be perfect. And it balance perfectly between epic-story of god-like char who created disaster in fantasy world and everyday life. (Something that “Background Pony” lacks raising constant “Why you write about this shitty OC I don’t care about? Move the plot forward!”) If you don’t see it well no matter how good the book is there always will be somebody who proclaims it bad and no matter how it’s bad there always will be somebody who proclaims it good.
    
   And if we talk about full-length fic-novels from the top of the list (say 2000+ likes) then I must admit that near all of them which I read are mediocre. At this time I’ve only 3 exceptions that really touched me: “Past Sins”, “Hard Reset” and Russian “The Broken Toy” which is not available in English (the last time I checked there was about 1/3 translated).
