I will agree with you that when an artist becomes popular, their prices tend to go up, but that happens with everything, high demand means higher prices, plus an animation, simple or not, takes time
What you really pay is the cache. The admiration for some simple but cute drawings has caused her to raise her price in a short time. Unfortunately the experience of the artist doesn’t influence.

You aren’t paying for those two hours of work, you are paying for the years of practice and learning Sugar took to be able to do this in two hours :)
I do not think that word means what you think it means. Absolutely no one is forcing you to pay anything. $60 for two hours’ work is a bargain, IME&O.
This kind of chibi art can cost 2 hours. 60$ for one chibi flat-color commission is abusive
People with talent make barely enough to live while the talentless hacks make millions, i.e. “modern art” and pop stars.
Custom art is criminally undervalued, especially in the furry community. If it takes you more than six hours to do these, you aren’t even making minimum wage.
That said, BP may just have meant it was too rich for their pocketbook. Much like mine.
A static drawing is often 60$ too for one pony. This one is a frame by frame animation celshaded.
