Starlight: GULAG TIME!
To give an example on how fandoms isn’t always the biggest help I heard that the sonic REdesign it didn’t happen because of the fan backlash but because of it backlash from the backlash general audience
Yeah, the older fandom/viewership helped MLP reach internet pop-culture status, and such, but overall the fandom recently barely seems involved in the show/franchise itself now, (as I said most people here admit they barely even support/watch the show, and some are even soured on later seasons) and for all we know most kids probably already liked the show, or watched it casually before the brony fanbase became more well known.
Even my nephew loved watching it with his sisters.
The fandom here influenced the success of MLP:FiM, with the fandom spreading, of course it will be even easier to reach kids as some of them may find the show through while adults are watching. Hasbro might didn’t realized that at first, I bet.
That is another thing to remember I’m pretty sure most of the fan watch their show online anyway.in fact from my own personal experience the only time I ever watched an episode on TV properly was when tiny Pop was playing them early
Not to mention, alot of bronies I’ve talked to here say they either haven’t watched the show for several years/seasons, or barely ever watch it anymore. Some bronies only support fanworks. One guy told me he only reads fan Wiki text overviews of the show, and doesn’t even have the patience to actually watch any newer episodes.
So it’s hard for me to buy that common brony myth that “only older bronies/fans watch/support the show and kids don’t.” (Which only entitled fans, or MLP-haters think.) Honestly, with the fanbase the way it is, kids probably watch it more on TV, Netflix, and buy the toys/merch’, and support the official franchise more then they do.
Sure the older fanbase helped meme, and popularize MLP:FIM in internet pop-culture, but kids still supported the show, as well.

Starlight’s the Pope?
May good things happen with you, as well. May your favorite cereal stay crunchy, and delicious in milk. May your Galaga high scores always be high.
Go to gulag and quack somewhere else, you marefoal!
No one shall speak ill of our great and glorious leader Starlight Glimmer!
@Beau Skunky
I totally agree with you here, may the great leader Starlight blesses you!
@northern haste
That is why we need to respect kids too, whether we liked or not, it helps supports the ones who made this show for us.
Really it was just bronies watching the show it would have been cancelled a lot stronger.
only a handful of franchises could actually survived purely from support from the fan base
Other fans are not “conformists,” just because they have different opinions then you.

Actually, the show has actually done well with it’s target audience, my neices & nephews love the show.
People whom think the only ones watching the show are older bronies are ignorant. Kids even know some of the memes, (comic writer Katie Cook said she autographed comics for kids wearing Derpy or Doctor Hooves shirts, and such before) and have even attended Brony conventions, and such too, even ones whom parents aren’t bronies.
As for villains never being punished, you also forget King Sombra basically got the death-penalty, (TWICE!) some villains have been imprisoned before, and other villains have gotten karmiac comeuppance, or punishment, as well throughout the series. Especially, the finale.
Even some of the reformed villains had to deal with crap before their reformation was cemented.
@Background Pony #7084
No, I like Starlight, because she can be an interesting flawed character sometimes, and makes a good foil for characters like Trixie & Twilight. (Before you assume I’m some “Starlight fanboy,” keep in mind, I used to dislike her too.)
Also, you forget, the reason the Mane 6 showed mercy on her, and accepted her into her friend circle, because she actually turned herself in, and was willing to accept punishment from them. Also, in the end all of her “crimes” were undone by time-travel.
This idea that “Starlight tried to destroy the timeline/universe” is greatly exaggerated, she only wanted revenge on Twilight, (for making her lose her town) and didn’t understand changing the past would have such a butterfly effect, because she didn’t understand how important the Mane 6’s friendship was. She even looked upset briefly when Twilight showed her the “ashlands” timeline, so even she didn’t want to destroy everything, that wasn’t her plan at all.
While she probably deserved some punishment, she has had some karmiac punishment sense then, like being imprisoned by Cozy Glow, and such, but even then the good she has done to help the main characters, outweighs all the bad things she did.
Because the fandom are nothing but a bunch of conformists.
That’s absurd because Starlight was already planned out by the show staff before Sunset became so beloved in the fandom.
I even remember seeing people claiming Starlight was only made because they couldn’t use sunset(why I do not know)
Oh I loved that one! I really wish the short was just about the two of them meeting and hanging and it happened more than once
Thanks. Y’know, I actually liked that EqG short where Sunset & Starlight met, their interactions were amusing, and said short highlighted the subtle differences between them well.
Shame alot of bronies hated it though.
^^^ This. Just…..ALL of this. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Seiously, you took the words right out of my mouth lol
Sorry. the way you worded it, made it seem like you were complaining too.
Hate to start another “S vs S” argument, but I admit, sometimes I feel there’s a rather big double-standard between Sunset & Starlight in the brony fanbase… I don’t want to think that, but I tend to see it alot.
I think it mostly stems on the fact, Sunset came first, so fans are more used to her. Also because she was treated like crap in-universe, and totally “Woobie-fied” in “Rainbow Rocks” so fans feel she had more comeuppance for her bad actions in the previous movie, and had more reason to be reformed then Starlight.
(Which while effective at first for me, looking back at that movie rewatching it, I can’t help but feel they were trying almost too hard to make Sunset look sad and sympathetic throughout it to the point it almost gets distracting, and annoying.)
Meanwhile, sense Starlight’s former bad actions only effected one town, (which haunted her a li’l bit) and her others were undone by time travel, (alot of fans though exaggerate that though as “Starlight was trying to destroy the universe!” which she wasn’t) they couldn’t really do the same with her.
So as a result Starlight’s never been able to get out of Sunset’s shadow, or feel like a “Sunset rip-off” to some fans.
Which is unfortunate, as both characters while similar, have some nice things about them regardless.

I know it’s a joke pic and I know the quote (I love Wreck it Ralph). I’m just saying to the guy that it’s kinda bull that folks are taking this as seriously as they are and thinking this is too far just because it involves Starlight.
And that just proves my point even further.
Either way I love this pic and it brought a smile to my face which was needed after a long day

@MegaAnimationFan
It’s a joke pic, (the quote comes from a movie) and you oddly speak of Starlight like she was a real person.
In fact, there’s a Sunset Shimmer version made by the same person. (And nobody’s complaining, or saying “Sunset’s being too mean” on it.)

your current filter.Edited
Yeah.
Not as low as how some haters took it tbh. Thinking about it she’s basically at their level
