I like the idea that anthro unicorns’ levitation spells naturally manifest as magic hands. It makes a lot of sense because the operation of the hands takes up a very large portion of the motor cortex of the brain. A unicorn wanting to pick up an object with their magic would mentally interpret it as using a third hand. They have always used their hands to pick things up, thus it’s kind of a “path of least resistance” thing, or maybe “configuration of highest familiarity.”
