This took too long to make… and I’m not going anon this time since this is how I feel about this new gen(if its 100% confirmed) and this means that this show truly will be dead.
I know that the original demographic was kids but YOU’D THINK with the huge fandom and community HASBRO IS AWARE OF would make an impact and encourage them to try to maintain the creativity, effort, and care the 4th gen of mlp had.
Because lets face it: All of you who watch Teen Titan’s go who saw the original only watch it to cling onto the characters you know and love despite their character’s being completely void of anything other than fads and tropes with them being a hollow shell of their former character. You know this is true, don’t even try to deny it. Hell even the writers of that show know this! They have an episode centered around this very thing!

Because it was funny back then? All those “memetic” moments are supposed to be funny.
Honestly, our show and Spongebob have a lot in common, and they both had the luck of resonating outside their target audience.
On the subject: the trailer for the new movie looks good, but I’m iffy to switching the animation from traditional animation to CGI. There’s also a feel that they are rehashing both “Gary Come Home” and “Atlantis Squarepantis”. Still, they are minor nitpicks, and it does look great.

Haven’t you noticed that the majority of the memes are from the old episodes?
There’s a reason why.
The same thing that caused a drop of quality in our show: the original creator and showrunner leaving the show, and his vision for the show getting utterly wrecked.
The difference is that Spongebob never had a Meghan McCarthy to make the transition easier, or even a Jim Miller to help guide things. So, the drop in quality was much, much larger in this case, with more gross out humor, character becoming either bigger jerks or bigger morons or both, and a huge amount of “meh” episodes.
That being said, Spongebob has mostly recovered from the rut, with the newer seasons and the newer movies being much closer to what Stephen Hillenburg envisioned for the show.

what made spongebob a shitty show? of course i’m asking as someone who grew up with the show with bias opnions, but i am still curious. considering that nobody really talks about it outside of the memes

Because their entire fanbase with the exception of the small minority clinging onto the characters they knew and loved despite them being “basically dead” is nothing more than kids between the age groups of 4-13, take into account this show dropped at almost the beginning of a new generation of kids, and OF COURSE IT’S GONNA MAKE THEM TONS because those kids don’t know any better or even know the much better version exists.
It doesn’t take much to entertain a kid, throw in enough stupidity and jokes and kids will find it (no matter how stupid and nonsensical it is) hilarious. Why do you think Spongebob is so popular with kids? Couple that with the “nostalgia factor” that teens will have as they grow into adults since they grew up with this non-sense and yeah, they are gonna defend it to their dying breath.
P.S: I’m not one to judge a show by its first 5 episodes, I watched 15 of those stupid things before I came to my conclusion. Yes, they have a few good jokes in their episodes, so did Spongebob, but like spongebob, a few good jokes can’t save a horribly animated and written TV show.
There comes a point in a cartoon fan’s life when they come to the sudden realization that Tara Strong is in everything.

-There’s a theatrical movie coming out in 2021.
-There has been no indication that said movie will be a Pony Life movie.
-There has been no indication that Pony Life is Generation 5
Meaning, either the 2021 movie will be one final G4 movie, or it will be the pilot movie for G5.
Either way, Pony Life will only last until 2021, when Generation 5 begins.
I honestly can’t relate. I watched a ton of TTG to get a feel for it, and it was honestly a pretty terrible and unentertaining show. It’s not that funny, it’s not amusing, and the only stuff that hit approval ratings above 80% was the “40, 40, 20” episode and the movie. That’s kind of telling if you ask me.
And based on the like-dislike ratio on this picture, it seems your in the stark minority on this.

Hasbro will never put the kind of toilet humor and fart jokes that made TTG hated into My Little Pony. They said it would be “slice of life”. And TTG is nothing short of bad fan fiction, much less “slice of life”
Besides. It’s not even here to stay. It’s just “to keep the audience entertained till G5 actually premiers in 2020

It’s funny because TTG! has made a bajillion times more money for Cartoon Network than Teen Titans ever did, even though Teen Titans is near universally recognized as a better show.

The humor in G4 was similar to cartoons I use to watch back when I was kid. Here is hoping for the best.
Problem is that it has an impact on basically all other CN shows. Have you look at the CN schedule when TTG is on its apex?
Thankfully just, just recently they fixed it up by introducing many new original shows. But the damage to CN has already been done.
