That’s mostly out of arrogance than anything else. Not to mention the fact that it’s pretty much established in this universe that Luna and Nightmare Moon are two separate beings. You don’t get to pretend otherwise when it’s pretty obvious since Nightnare has comitted several actions at Luna herself would never do.
It’s not only majorly implied from the beginning, but also there’s the fact that he’s in the comics showcase to this by having Nightmare possess Rarity as well.
And as I said before, after Celestia was banished she immediately took over Equestria for herself, no benevolent ruler would do that.
Turning her into a pawn for her own means is pretty much the equivalent of controling her life. Not to mention the arranged marriage mentioned later in the description, as well as forcing Cadence to take care of those that she deems disloyal.
The fact that there’s barely any daytime at all speaks for itself, once again, she’s basically controlling how things go the way she wants as opposed to how things should go.
She can, she just doesn’t want to, hence why we see Luna in chains and it’s stated and shown that Nightmare Moon has repeatedly cast several spells on the moon to make sure Celestia stays trapped forever.
Also, the Royal sisters wouldn’t try to take over for the same wouldn’t as Nightmare, they they do so to take back what was stolen from them by a tyrannical dictator. The royal sisters ruled Equestria because they loved their subjects and wanted to see their lands prosper. She wants everyone to Simply worship her and acknowledge her as their Superior.
Celestia and Luna were benevolent, Nightmare Moon is a tyrant. That’s why they’re the better option.

if they said that after moonsetmlp came out, there’s no guarantee it’s the same story. silfoe tries to follow canon (for some reason) but they can’t work miracles.

I mean, when you have an “inquisitor general” it does sort of imply the whole torture and murder dissenters thing, but this isn’t warhammer 40k. until I see some ponies getting disappeared, I’m gonna be skeptical it’s even a thing.

Given the fact that she basically possessed her body and has locked her away in her own subconscious? I’d say that Luna is more than justified in one of her dead.
That wasn’t the same thing, in that version they were just nervous, not outright terrified of her. Besides, they know that Celestia is benevolent, unlike Nightmare Moon.
That’s Twilights thought process, however her thought process does not equal her Queen’s. so far all we know she would have immediately put Applejack down for speaking out of line.
She took over Luna’s body and then immediately took over Equestria after Celestia was dealt with. She wanted power, stop making up excuses.
Yes, it is out of the question, mainly because at the end of the day absolutely no one, not even she herself, has referred to her as Luna. She’s always referred to as Nightmare Moon in this comic. The Tantabus was never created in this timeline.
So yes, Nightmare Moon is a parasite that possessed Luna’s body, and Luna is the true princess trying to break free. Stop making idiotic excuses.
In the eyes of certain the ponies, probably not, in the eyes of every other race and those not under her hoof? I’d say it’s pretty clear considering what the Griffins have to go through. Not to mention some of the crab that Nightmare Moon is pulling off behind the scenes out of the Public’s eye.
No, Luna was simply sipped of being overlooked in comparison to her sister, Nightmare Moon took advantage of that by feeding off of her negative emotions and then possessing her when the chance came. She didn’t care if a question was being ruled properly then, all she cared about was having a host and enslaving Equestria. Not to mention the fact that in an earlier comic we see her openly stated that she wanted Celestia dead, so no, she’s not some misunderstood Saint who was better for Equestria. She’s a villain.
Yes it is. Why? Because if she really had mellowed out or become a better Pony, she would have released Luna and Celestia from their captivity long ago. Not keep them trapped continuously just so she could have the entirety of Equestria to herself under her own power.
She wasn’t desperate back then, she was selfish. And she’s selfish now as well, as evidenced by the fact that she seems to be perfectly okay of controlling Cadence’s life for no reason other than she doesn’t like sharing power.

very similar to her terrified look when princess celestia visited her in bird in the hoof.
besides, two pages after that, twilight very grumpily states that applejack’s allowed to express her opinion, rather than arresting her for sedition, when she says she doesn’t give a rat’s ass about what the empress thinks. that’s not the modus operandi of a cruel tyrant.

I don’t think the nightmare ever asked for power. besides, she thinks she is princess luna, and the luna in her head is the parasite trying to destroy her. is it out of the question that luna is a tantabus of her repressed regrets, and nightmare moon is who luna really became?
is equestria suffering? nightmare moon didn’t try to defeat celestia because she felt that equestria was being ruled too capably, after all. we don’t know how well the sisters were ruling before that happened, but we know it was terrible enough to create the nightmare, and fully convince her that one way or another, celestia had to be taken down.
anyway, maybe snootie was evil back then, but she’s since mellowed out a lot. I’m not sure it’s fair to judge her as the same desperate pony she once was, after a thousand years of stable rule.

Luna has every right to want to erase Nightmare Moon from existence, considering the fact that she basically took over her body, banished her sister, usurped the Throne, all out of the selfish desire for power.
Why should Luna care about what one pony feels towards the parasite that basically ruined her life and locked her away in her subconscious when the rest of Equestria has to suffer for it? Luna is acting out of benevolence, but that doesn’t mean she has to be 100% nice about it. It was her body to begin with, and she’s been locked away for over a thousand years having to watch set parasite masquerade as her, she has every right to be persistent.
Stop trying to paint Nightmare Moon as the hero here, she isn’t.

yeah, snootie probably shouldn’t have usurped the throne, but having done so, she’s actually pretty good at ruling equestria. plus luna’s been suppressed, angry and frustrated for so long that luna isn’t exactly acting out of selfless benevolence for others, so much as her desire to destroy this thing without consideration for its worth, kindness, or wish to continue existing. maybe if luna actually cared about how twilight felt towards her queen, I’d be more sympathetic, but no it’s more like “go destroy your beloved queen because duh, she’s evil! I’m going to keep hounding you in your dreams you until you do btw.”
twilight has a point when she says she’s pretty sure luna is the parasite here, because luna’s acting like the parasite she claims black snootie is.
