Speaking about fan-fictions as a cultural phenomenon I understand why people don’t like them and I’ve have a feeling that in many cases they’re pointless because they give little or nothing that base story itself can’t give. F. e. the story can give the whole life of it’s main character and there’s nothing to add.
But MLP itself from one side is a cartoon show for children that creates a lot of restrictions. From other side it has fixed characters, no logical ending and very big complex world. Something that simply ask to abandon child-related restrictions and create something with more adult look at the universe or add something to it. This leads to countless fan-made jokes based on characters’ behavioral patterns (fanart, many short fics like “Princess Celestia Hates Tea” and etc). That’s why the fandom existed in the 1st place.
And “Past Sins” is very rare exception which rises above original like skyscraper but don’t tries to rework it still remaining a fairy tale. As a contrary example I can recall “The Background Pony” while reading it I always had a feeling that there’s not Poniville but some small European town with all it’s problems.
Ahh, that makes sense. Yeah, never read it, I tend to despise fan fiction.
Not sure how familiar you are with Past Sins, but those glasses aren’t correctional. They’re glamored to hide Nyx’s dagger/diamond shaped eye pupils.
Either way, cute picture.
Nothing starnge that this looks a little unimpressive compared to the story where a character goes a path from supervillian which nearly ruined her world to a saint of Jesus Christ level.
What interesting we can learn from the whole book?
Because loving something doesn’t mean consuming everything without using brain. And if watch me so carefully then you must remember that:
And now do math why would I read anything about rebuilding plastic castle which I hate to see in MLP itself? Will I read anything about Flash Sentry? What he has to do with Nyx universe? In fact “Past Sins” universe can’t be merged even with MLP but with EG it’s totally incompatible. Because if you’ve noticed “Past Sins” world is rather complex equine state and EG literally consists from school. OK I understand it’s too complex to you. But again I will not accept sequels if they’re filled with things from Hasbro which I hate. It’s obvious. Escpecially because fic-writers have a privilege to keep their universes separated from official sources and they usually do.
And you know what? I read “The Road Home” in time of it’s publication (read 5 and scrolled down 2 chapters) and there was a commentary from somebody “Why you insert Flash Sentry people are angry?” Pen Stroke himself responded: “I know I’m just joking”. I don’t know what to say here if the author himself doesn’t take his work which made him famous seriously then why should I?
Thx 4 Nyx but you should know where to stop.
Okay, I’ve been convinced for the longest time you might have been playing jester and you’re only pretending to be a Nyx fanboy, but now you’re completely blatant.
“Winter Bells” was totally pointless just a bunch of events without any central idea glued to the parallel story which leads nowhere. And everything after that was Nyx tossed to a huge heap of Hasbro shit.
So vote down from “Past Sins” fan.
