haha, you can still whip it up. Just post the Save Derpy video on ponychan or /mlp/ and watch the raaaaage flow! It’s like you killed their crippled little sister or something I swear. (actually, maybe it is, I do recall three of the death threat pic guys having been only children.)

Just for reference, I drew this when the whole Derpy thing first started. It wasn’t even so much about the whole “Derpy being removed” thing or even if she was ableist or not but the sheer amount of hatred I saw being spewed over a cartoon horse. I mean…really.

People censoring the opinions of disabled people in the name of disabled people make me uncomfortable.

Disagreeing with someone who is trans automatically makes the person transphobic.

The people who were spewing hate, invective, insults, and threats may have been a minority, but they outnumbered the pro-Derpy fans who were calling on them to stop. Posting an image like this probably is pointless now, and never would have changed the mind of even one hater, but it at least reminds more reasonable fans that they’re not alone.

I was on Ponibooru during the thick of Derpygate; about a quarter of the comments on any image related to Derpygate at that time insulted Yamino for being transsexual.

Unfortunately, there are still people who do these kind of things. Fortunately, we outnumber them by the boatloads.

Nobody sent death threats, and nobody is being transphobic.

I’m bother by this because it assumes people feared the trans crew for some reason (“Oh god, look at them, the cut their penises, we fear them!!!”) rather than them using it first as a shield and then people getting annoyed at them for it.

Derpygate is one of the things we will never be able to live it down.

The ones that started all the problems were either awful people or trolls. I’ve not seen either of those around here much. They also wouldn’t even care about making Derpy sad.

You can’t feel uncomfortable, you’re fictional.

But it doesn’t need to be said. Most people weren’t doing anything like that, and those that were wouldn’t be very receptive to this. The anti-derpy crowd just adopted FOX News reporting tactics to accentuate the worst of a very large group of people.
