your current filter.There is a very good reason the Royal Guard is traditionally stallion-dominated.
That’s actually the reason I thought the Guard was male exclusive though; pretty much every other Industry is either dominated by mare or made gender equal due to this gender ration. Yet up until season 8, there were no Guardmares, just Guardstallions. Other military/law enforcement branches (as the Guard seems to do both… badly :P) were gender mixed, but not the Guard. So it must have been some long running tradition that kept the Guard exclusively male in a world dominated by mares.
Honestly, I feel like the theory that the guards are all clones or magic constructs went out the window when the later seasons introduced so many that obviously look different from each other

Unless the mares are from the regular EUP Army. My headcanon is that the Royal Guard is male exclusive, while the rest of the EUP in mare dominated (like most of Equestria).
