To clarify: it’s referring to a scene in the movie All Dogs Go To Heaven with a massive alligator that has an elaborate musical sequence. While the musical sequence might be too elaborate for the role, it’s terrible to use “big lipped alligator moment” as an example of this because it establishes something that gets used in the climax. In other words, the origin of the phrase is not an entirely random sequence with no bearing on the plot; as a matter of fact, a character uses something from there that saves his life towards the end.
