Hyenas are ultimate survivor animals. Their bodies can digest bones, hair, etc. Despite popular misconceptions, most of their food comes from hunting, usually at night, though, like most carnivores, they don’t turn down scavenging and food-stealing either. Sadly, Disney managed to reinforce the stereotypes, which likely will not go away. It is likely that if hyenas were shown in MLP:FiM, that there would be no deviation from the popular myth.
