If you ask me, the age spells are only advanced illusions.

It was a high level illusion, because if she really lost it then she wouldn’t be able to breathe.  
So if you ask me, the age thing only works for a short time (As you saw, the flower had some time before it went straight back to normal, implying theres sort of a limit before it wears off)  
Or it’s just an illusion  

As Ashdreg mentioned, even a prodigy as shit-hot as Twilight couldn’t use it well. Anyone that could pull it off would have the kind power that legends come from.
 
Hey, that Star Swirl guy, ponies act like he was pretty diesel. Maybe he did meet Luna in person after all? Maybe he isn’t quite as dead as the viewers think? Maybe he actually is that guy from the Ponyville retirement center?

There was too much new fanon content in this episode. They will be talking about all this crap for generations to come.

Could, but it seems one would require the power nearly that of Celestia and Luna, and even then, Twilight was straining hard to only have it work on a flower for 1sec at best.

Powerful unicorns can manipulate age. I don’t think that Cadance is actually that powerful. Outside of her love spell, she seems distinctly weaker than Twilight or Shining.

The amulet made her powerfull enough to use age spells. Twilight can do them as well (see that flower) but it requires a lot of power. The amulet makes the wearer strong enough to do so

I don’t think that was an innate ability of the Amulet; just one that resulted from its power boost and allowed access to higher unicorn magics.
 
And they might, if they’re not inherently immortal. Might help avert the ‘immortal blues’ interpretation of Shining Armor and Cadance’s relationship.
 
But I don’t think those capable of the spell are going to dole it out like candy. For one, what if there’s side effects? What if it’s like Alessi’s age regressing stand Sethisto Sethan from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3, and the person who’s regressed doesn’t remember anything from when they were older?

The world trembles.

It could explain why such exalted, God like leaders could have moments of childishness: They matured their bodies with magic at an age before they completely matured mentally, and haven’t changed that much over the centuries.

I think it just comes naturally for Luna and Celestia. Maybe Cadence too. As for the amulet, I think it just emulates the power of an alicorn, but strips away the user’s sanity in the process.

Cadence was noticeably younger when she foalsat for Twilight, so she can’t be centuries old.

That just confirms that they actually DO have god powers. Not actual gods, but close enough.
