Description

Well this took a really long time to make… I blame Amarynceus and his sketch that inspired me to do this.

Also have a ‘lil story to go with it.
“Ha ha !!
Twilight was looking at a hovering purple wormhole she had conjured up over her desk, the gently humming portal did not look special at all. Someone who did not know what it was would probably not even give it a second glance, but Twilight could jump out of sheer joy, if she weren’t so worried that losing her focus would close the portal and she wouldn’t have a second chance to study it ever again. She leaned towards it slowly, half closing her eyes in case something unexpected happens. Luckily nothing did. She noticed the heat coming from it and half consciously made her quill take a note of it on a notepad she left in the spot she cast the spell from.

“Portal radiates heat, lots of it. Possible cause ?____ waste Energy ? Something from the other side ?___ likely unstable.”

By the time the quill stopped writing down her thoughts, Twilight’s nose was less than an inch from the portal. Being this close felt weird, but it was like she was entranced by the eerie shapes that seemed to ebb and flow on its surface. She was just about to put her nose through it, maybe see what’s on the other side, but her instinct kicked in and she recoiled back.
“Stop being so stupid, Twilight.” She said to herself. “You don’t even know what’s going to happen.” The quill sprung back to life and this time it wrote:

“CONSIDER EXTREMELY DANGEROUS UNTIL FURTHER EXPERIMENTATION!! KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE, ONLY APPROACH IN A DEFENSIVE BUBBLE.”

Now that her first wave of fascination passed, she noticed beads of sweat started appearing on her forehead, and not just because the portal she conjured up kept on pouring heat out of it. Twilight cast a sideways glance at the candle that she left near the portal and saw it was noticeably tilting towards one side, melting.

“Umm… that can’t mean anything good..” Twilight said to herself, a hint of concern in her voice.
“I should probably close it quickly before this thing sets something on fire.” She thought, looking around at the books and papers stacked around the portal. “But I need to see if it works first.”
Twilight levitated her notepad closer to herself, looked at if for a moment, then unclipped her notes and tossed it into the portal.
It was like watching a stone being thrown the lake, with purple particles flying in all directions. Then it dissipated.

“Well then, that’s my notepad gone forever.” Twilight said and sighed. “I should probably stop talking to myself, before someone thinks I’m crazy.”
“You could always talk to me.” Someone else said with a voice strangely similar to her own.
“Too late.” Twilight thought, and turned around slowly, thinking about who it might be that was mocking her. “ It’s probably Discord, he wouldn’t care that I magically locked the door, if anything he’d break in just to laugh at my efforts.”
But when her head swiveled to the source of the sound she froze dumbstruck. She saw herself standing on the table, grinning mischievously in front of what she could only later call a magical gate, to where she did not know.
It was only on the second glance she started picking up the details of what she saw. The other Twilight was missing two of her legs on the right side, replaced with strange shining metal she never saw before. Her guest, Twilight noticed had no wings, but instead a magic replacement transparent and the same color as her gate.

“Cheer up!” The other Twilight said with excitement she did not even try to hide. “That’s waaay better than my first stab at extra dimensional travel. My first portal set my workshop on fire, but that’s a long story. Oh! I almost forgot! You dropped this.” she pulled out Twilight’s notepad from somewhere off the bounds of the gate.
“I left you some of my own notes to help along and keep you from blowing yourself up.” Said she, jauntily jumping off of Twilight’s table as her portal closed behind her.
Twilight noticed that at the point where she landed bits of the shiny metal her cheery intruder used as her leg splashed on the floor, where they stayed for a moment like a liquid silver stain before it returned to its place.

“WHO ARE YOU?” Was the first thing that Twilight was able to say, she also noticed it came out a lot louder than she’d like.
The other mare laughed.
“I’m you. But not entirely. You’ll catch on one day.” she winked at the bewildered Twilight as she opened a different gate in her path without even looking at it.
“I’m sure we’ll meet again soon if you keep going down this rabbit hole.” She pointed at the black spot next to a melted candle with her horn.
“But for now I already said too much. Wouldn’t want to take all the fun out of figuring this out yourself, now would I? Cheerio.”
She shot another encouraging grin at Twilight and diapered. Leaving Twilight alone again, her head spinning from confusion.”
