Books and learning? No thanks, Mrs Clover. The Patchster gets her entertainment from life on the street. Also from spying on her friends.

At least she shares my taste in ships.

Background Pony #DEFB
I took a number of photos of this one - it’s the first appearance of Lancer in any of the comics and highlights just how, well, different Bright Eyes’ and Lancer’s relationship in the comic is (notice the photographic focus on Bright Eyes calling Lancer a ‘stupid boy’ - this would NEVER happen in the TV show).

The best part about this story, asides from the glorious presence of Patch in this (she and Bright Eyes never did interact that much in the TV show) is the obvious presence of the funky colouring the later G1 comics are prone to. This is one of the more correct examples (as is close to the show) of Lancer’s comic colouration, but you’ll notice he is a much darker blue on the first page before suddenly becoming a lighter cerulean on the second (some comics even colour Lancer as pink with a purple mane - basically, the artists stole Clover’s colour scheme and slapped it onto Lancer, which explains why the cover of that nefarious Valentine’s Day issue (you may have encountered it) seems to star Bright Eyes and Clover on a date together - sorry fanfiction writers, it’s Lancer.
